Update on my and how much life stinks

August 18th, 2009 at 12:16 pm

Just a quick update since I haven't updated in forever.

I have multiple bills in collections since work has been disgustingly slow at my primary job. It's a mess. Just trying to keep everyone at bay and give them at least a little bit to keep them at arm's length.

For the past two weeks I've had no gas, which means no hot water for showers, no stove to cook on, no dryer to dry clothes. The gas company will not budge that they need $210 to turn it on, so until I have that I will have no "luxuries" Never thought I would view hot water as a LUXURY.

Hopefully things pick up soon. Life is just really, really sucky and I am sick of everything.

I,m so sorry to hear you are still struggling. Food, utilities, and housing should always be your primary goals. Don't pay any credit card anything until you get your gas back on and have a cushion for yourself.

Have you read Dave Ramsey's books? You can also listen to his radio show archives on his website. daveramsey dot com. He's very inspirational. He was where you are at one point. Mary Hunt also has great books and she was also in dire straights with credit cards.

I point you towards those resources, so that you can see a little light and start to feel hope. Feeling hopeless doesn't move you forward. ((Hugs))

I hope that things get better soon. I am with creditcardfree that your priorities should include utilities, with gas being one of them. Things will get better.

So sorry to hear about this. It really stinks. I agree with CCF, pay off the gas bill before the CC's! And call the CC companies and ask to talk to the "hardship" department. They have them! Try to work with them so they will stop calling you.

Luxuries are what we define them to be, I think... but this one has to lead to some discomfort! We are living in SE Europe, and many older people here survive on almost nothing, and they literally cannot afford hot water, even in the winter. It's sad. I do agree with the above that a gas (electric, insurance, water) bill needs to come before credit card payments, in most cases. Good luck with everything!

It really sucks that you have this sort of luck. If its any consolation at all, there are a lot of people rooting for you! I'm sure doing all this has made you a stronger person, if that's something, even if it doesn't feel like it right now. EVENTUALLY, you'll come out of the other end with a massive smile on your face and nothing hanging over your head! good luck to you.
